Movie Screening : Strawberry and Chocolate

March 2 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm PST

Free

You are cordially invited to join Springboard Cuba for a screening of the Oscar-nominated film Strawberry and Chocolate.

Date:  March 2

Time: 4:30pm

Venue: GenPRIDE  (401 Broadway E #223, Seattle WA 98102)

Cost: This event is free but registration is required to ensure adequate seating.

A panel discussion will accompany the film.

Set in Havana, Strawberry and Chocolate is a lighthearted portrayal of a friendship between two men, one gay and one straight, one fiercely communist and the other stridently independent. The film was the first major Cuban film to feature an openly gay lead character. Upon its release in 1994, it quickly won over critics for its powerful story-telling and themes of understanding and acceptance.

During the upcoming trip to Cuba for GSBA members in May, we will have the opportunity to discuss the film’s significance with a well-known Cuban film director and visit the elegant restaurant featured in the setting of the story.

We hope you will join us March 2 for this event. Please RSVP today!
